Rock n’ roll legend Liam Gallagher posed for selfies with fans after polishing off a battered sausage – at a fish and chip shop beloved by celebs. The former Oasis frontman paid a surprise visit to award-winning Toll Bar Fish & Chips, in the quaint village of Stoney Middleton, Derbyshire, last Saturday (May 6).
The small chippy in the Peak District has previously welcomed Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker and Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise. Wall of Glass singer Liam ordered two fish and chip meals, beef and onions pies, extra chips, fish cakes, curry sauce and battered sausages, costing just under £30.
But manager Harry Grafton, 23, revealed the superstar had become envious of others who were tucking into battered sausages and “cheekily” asked for one as a snack. And he was only too happy to offer Gallagher VIP treatment by handing him the saveloy to devour while he waited.
Harry said: “He was a bit cheeky, as you normally order food and have to wait for it to be cooked. But we had one battered sausage ready to go, and he saw it. He had been waiting outside with other customers, and he was chatting to them, and he saw one of them had a battered sausage.
“So he asked if he could have it. He said: ‘I fancy one now, have you got one now?’ We of course let him have it." Harry said Gallagher was a “really nice bloke” and been happy to mix with the locals who had come to his chip shop for their regular Saturday night orders.
And later, he obliged to have his photo taken with staff who had prepared his delicious fried feasts. He added: “He was really good, a really nice guy, and he chatted to me. He was talking to me about football. I knew he was into his football.
“We took a couple of pictures with him afterwards. He was with his partner."
