Brazen thieves broke into a Renfrewshire chippy and ran off with a golden haul.
Bizarrely, as well as taking a quantity of cash from Sherwoods chip shop in Renfrew, the crooks also took a large amount of cooking oil with them.
The Paisley Daily Express understands that the Hairst Street premises was locked and secured – but that the thieves had forced the rear door open to gain entry.
Staff came into work on Monday, October 17 to find the door damaged and the cash and stock missing.
A police inquiry is ongoing to try and identify the culprits.
