KAMPHAENG PHET - A Chinese woman fled, her hands still tied, from Thai kidnappers who reportedly planned to take her from a hotel in Bangkok to Mae Sot district in Tak, bordering Myanmar, late Sunday night.
The woman escaped from a black Nissan Teana car on Ratchadamnoen Road in tambon Nai Muang of Muang district late Sunday night. Her hands were still tied when she sought help from local residents, according to media reports.
She was quoted as saying that four Thai men kidnapped her from a hotel in Bangkok and they were taking her to a border area. She was later taken to hospital for treatment for injuries incurred during her abduction.
Police caught up with the suspects’ car in tambon Lan Dokmai of Muang district and arrested two men, aged 24 and 41, natives of Mae Sot district in Tak province, which borders Myanmar. Two other suspects fled, avoiding arrest.
Police believe the gang had intended taking the Chinese woman to Mae Sot district, and then possibly to Myanmar.
