Chinese spy balloon revealed, Biden admin accused of hiding info

Biden administration tried to hide Chinese spy balloon hovering above US.

In a recent revelation, a newly released report suggests that the Biden administration attempted to conceal the presence of a Chinese spy balloon hovering above U.S. territory. The report highlights a previously undisclosed phone call that paints a different picture than the assurance given by administration officials regarding the balloon's collection and transmission of data.

The Chinese spy balloon initially came to light when a vigilant reporter in Billings, Montana spotted it with his naked eye and managed to capture a photo. The administration had initially dismissed concerns about the balloon, claiming it posed no threat and did not gather any valuable information. However, this latest report indicates that multiple lies were told to prevent the incident from interfering with a scheduled meeting between Secretary Blinken and his Chinese counterpart.

Former CIA analyst and House Intelligence Committee member, Fred Flights, who has been analyzing this situation since February, asserts that it was evident at the time the administration was being dishonest. The massive size of the electronic package aboard the balloon, equivalent to three school buses, raised suspicions about its surveillance capabilities. Balloons can be effective tools in the modern era as they can move slowly, loiter over sensitive targets, and intercept signals.

While the balloon eventually came crashing down and was recovered, the actual content of the information gathered remains classified. Flights emphasizes the urgency for a comprehensive classified briefing to Congress, asserting that the American people deserve to know the extent of the breach. He also emphasizes the necessity of implementing a law that would require the U.S. government to inform Congress members and state governors in the event of such intrusions.

The incident raises concerns about the security of U.S. airspace in the face of Chinese provocations. Flights points out that if the situation were reversed and the U.S. had launched a similar spy balloon over China, it would have been swiftly intercepted. The fact that the balloon was able to loiter over sensitive military bases and gather information before being shot down indicates both a violation of American airspace and a provocative gesture by China.

The lack of immediate action by the Biden administration has been viewed by critics as a sign of weakness, with China possibly assuming that they would not face any repercussions. In light of these revelations, questions arise regarding the extent of damage caused by the balloon's surveillance activities, including the interception of phone calls and gathering of unclassified signals at the targeted military bases.

As the details continue to emerge, it is increasingly important for the administration to provide clarity and transparency on the incident. The American people, as well as Congress members and state governors, should be promptly and fully briefed on the nature and consequences of this breach.
