Chinese New Year 2022: What's on in Sunderland this year?

The government have announced that Plan B restrictions will be lifted at the end of the month, which is no doubt great news for those wanting to celebrate next month's Chinese New Year festivities.

It has been confirmed that celebrations will not be hit by coronavirus restrictions, and that the annual event can once again bring the streets of the North East alive with colourful processions and music.

With a substantial Chinese community relocating to the region throughout the early 1970's, many longstanding residents will be eagerly looking forward to celebrating their adored tradition here in the North East, as it arrives on February 1.
