The Chinese pair of Xu Shixiao and Sun Mengya showcased their dominance in the women's canoe double 500m event by successfully defending their title with an impressive performance at the Olympics. The duo, who had previously clinched gold in Tokyo, once again proved their prowess by setting an Olympic-best time of 1:52.81.
Xu and Sun's remarkable achievement was just over a second shy of the current world record held by Canada's Laurence Vincent Lapointe and Katie Vincent, highlighting the exceptional level of competition in the event.
