Chinese military researchers have outlined a concept for a nuclear-powered main battle tank fitted with an electromagnetic railgun designed to have a theoretical range of up to 450km (280 miles), according to the researchers. It is an ambitious armoured vehicle proposal that remains at the research and concept stage.
The design was detailed in a peer-reviewed paper published in June in the Chinese journal Acta Armamentarii. The researchers suggest that a fully nuclear-powered version could be developed after 2045, but the paper does not establish a firm production or deployment date.
