The appointment puts Hu on track to also take over the position of STA administrator from Wang.
Hu, 59, remains the administrator of the National Healthcare Security Administration, a position he has held since 2018.
The background: Hu is a public finance specialist. He previously worked at the Ministry of Finance (MOF) for 20 years, lastly as a vice minister from 2014 to 2018.
