Chilling CCTV footage shows of the moments before and after a birthday boy went on a drunken violent rampage and murdered a stranger.
Brian McKillop savagely murdered the complete stranger after a day of drinking on his 18th birthday, by repeatedly stamping and kicking him in the head and body.
The teen has now been jailed for a minimum of 11 years and three months, after pleading guilty to the murder and robbery of 51-year-old James Britton.
Shockingly, while the 51-year-old lay unconscious on the ground, he then stamped on his head for a period of between five and six minutes.
It was heard at the High Court in Glasgow that Mr Britton - who was affectionately known as 'Moose' - was returning from visiting friends when he was attacked in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, on October 20, 2021.
The injured man was spotted by passing motorists outside a car wash on Farmeloan Road, who pulled over and phoned 999 before helping him, reports Glasgow Live.
As she gave assistance to Mr Britton, she spotted that his pockets had been turned out, some coins were strewn on the pavement next to him, and the contents from the carrier bag he had been carrying were on the ground.
Shortly after, ambulance crew and police officers arrived to the scene, and cops arrested McKillop as he attempted to leave.
Horrifying CCTV footage has been revealed, which shows a compilation of McKillop walking from Rutherglen Train Station at 11.48pm, appearing agitated and angry as he kicks a bike.
Later, he is seen wandering around the area, as he makes gestures at passersby.
Post-incident footage then shows the 18-year-old at around 11.59pm walking from the Star Hand Car Wash away from the direction of where Mr Britton was last seen and towards the forecourt of the car wash, as the police arrive.
When taken to the police station he was found to have Mr Britton’s prescription medication in his jacket pocket.
Blood was found on his shoes and jeans.
Tragically, Mr Britton died at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on November 4, 2021 from the injuries he sustained in the attack.
Speaking after the sentencing, David Green, Procurator Fiscal for Homicide and Major Crime, said: “This was a random and unprovoked attack on a stranger. An attack carried out with an appalling level of sustained violence.
“James Britton’s friends and family have suffered a devastating loss, and our thoughts are with them as they attempt to come to terms with what has happened."
