A child wearing a snorkel was saved by rescuers from catastrophic flooding close to Camp Mystic, where dozens of people died in 2025.

Heavy downpours across the Texas Hill Country have turned rivers into raging, life-threatening surges, with emergency services urging people to move to higher ground after the torrents have washed out more than 100 roads.

Footage shows a Texas Game Warden wading through the murky waters with a child wearing a snorkelling mask.

The state police officers have rescued more than 40 people from homes, submerged vehicles and vehicles that have been swept off roadways following days of flooding.

No immediate reports of deaths or injuries have emerged.

Twenty eight people died when children’s summer retreat Camp Mystic in Hunt, Texas was overwhelmed by floods in July 2025.
