Child dies after being found unconscious in hot car

A two-year-old girl has died after being found unconscious in a hot car on a rural property in Central Queensland.

Queensland police were called to the home on Bee Creek Road in Eungella, about 80km west of Mackay, at 2.20pm on Sunday.

Detectives from the Mackay Child Protection and Investigation Unit have declared a crime scene at the house and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child's death.

Temperatures topped 32C at Eungella on Sunday.
