Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. doesn’t seem to think the Jets' passing attack poses much of a threat ahead of their matchup in Week 4.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Gay was asked about what he’s seen from New York’s offense led by Zach Wilson, the linebacker didn’t hide his feelings, suggesting he sees a team that figures to run the ball plenty.
“A team that wants to run the ball,” said Gay after a brief pause, via Aaron Ladd of KSHB41. “That’s wasn’t be funny or anything. A-Rod [Aaron Rodgers] got hurt and it turned into a team in panic mode.
“They got great running backs, so now they’re just trying to pound it, ground and pound,” he added.

Gay is expecting the Jets to try to keep the ball on the ground in Week 4 and avoid forcing Wilson to make big plays. With the likes of Dalvin Cook, Breece Hall, and Michael Carter in the backfield, the linebacker believes New York will feed them in an effort to ignite an offensive spark.
This season, the Jets have attempted 66 rushing plays, which ranks in the bottom-third of the league. That, however, is in part due to the fact that they’ve scarcely held a lead this season and have frequently been playing from behind.
That may once again be the case in Sunday’s game, for which Kansas City is heavily favored. The Chiefs don’t seem too worried about what Wilson brings to the table, which means it could be a long night for New York’s running backs.
