Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, TE Travis Kelce make more NFL history in Week 12

It seems like every week, Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce are making their mark on the NFL history books. The Week 12 win against the Los Angeles Rams was no different for the dynamic duo.

Mahomes passed a pair of Hall of Famers on Sunday afternoon. He now has 38 games with at least 300 passing yards in his first six seasons, surpassing former Dolphins QB Dan Marino for the most such games by a player in his first seven seasons in NFL history.

Sunday marked Mahomes’ 74th career start and his 59th career win. With the latest win, Mahomes passed Raiders QB Ken Stabler for the most wins by a quarterback in their first 75 career starts.

As for Kelce, he recorded 57 yards on Sunday. He now has 9,918 receiving yards in his first 10 seasons, passing former Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez (9,882) for the most receiving yards by a tight end in his first 11 career seasons.

Kelce needs just 82 more receiving yards this season to become the fastest tight end in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards. If he does it in the next game, he’ll have reached 10,000 career receiving yards 38 games faster than the next closest player.

Another impressive feat from Kelce — he recorded his 137th consecutive game with a reception on Sunday. He still holds the second-longest active streak behind Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins, but he is first among tight ends. He also passed Jeremy Shockey (136) for the third-longest streak of consecutive games with a reception by a tight end in NFL history. Only Ozzie Newsome (150) and Tony Gonzalez (211) have longer streaks.

If that wasn’t enough for you, the duo of Kelce and Mahomes moved into fourth place in NFL history for the most QB-TE touchdown connections all-time with 46. Only Tom Brady – Rob Gronkowski (90), Philip Rivers – Antonio Gates (89) and Drew Brees – Jimmy Graham (51) have combined for more touchdowns.
