Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Sounds Off on ‘Stone-Cold Killer’ Joe Burrow

Just ahead of every NFL season, fans are treated to the NFL Network and NFL Films’ release of the top 100 players heading into the new year. It’s a list voted on by the league’s players, so it gives fans a bit of a front-and-center feel for how dominant some of the best players in football are, according to their peers.

Best of all, there’s always a good tidbit or two from a rival or elite player at the same position for each name on the list. This was certainly the case when Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was revealed as the No. 6 overall player in the Top 100.

Multiple players, such as rival and Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, Steelers defensive tackle Cameron Heyward and Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon praised Burrow during his top 100 release clip.

However, no comment stood out more than a late appearance in the video from rival and Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who gave Burrow his flowers with some high praise.

“He’s like a stone-cold killer, man. It doesn’t matter who he’s playing, he expects to win. People say that, but until you see people that have that mentality, then you really know,” Mahomes said of Burrow. “He’ll have that team ready to win football games every year. Even though we beat them last time, they’re still 3–1 against us.”

As Mahomes mentioned, Burrow holds a 3–1 edge on the Chiefs star in head-to-head matchups, though the result of Kansas City beating Cincinnati in the 2023 AFC championship matchup led to the best imaginable outcome for Mahomes and company, as they went on to win Super Bowl LVII 38–35 over the Eagles.
