Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes and every NFL quarterback share a unique bond because of their responsibilities in leading a team on the field. In some cases, bonds are formed off the field, and they occasionally show up during crucial games when facing off against one another.
During his weekly press conference on Wednesday, Mahomes spoke candidly about his friendship with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
“We still stay in touch,” Mahomes explained. “I mean, especially in the off-season, just kind of with our love for golf and being around the people. And I know Shane Buechele, and he was here, and now he’s there, so he’s a really good dude.
“I think that’s why his team plays so hard for him. But I mean, obviously, we’re both competitors, so in the season, not as much talking as we’re both going for that ultimate goal, the Super Bowl, but at the same time, there’s a ton of respect both ways.”
The friends have consistently battled each other over the past few seasons. The most recent meeting was in the AFC divisional round, with Mahomes emerging victorious. The two face off again in Buffalo this Sunday, with high stakes once again as each team seeks control of the AFC in the second half of the season.
