The Kansas City Chiefs have somehow regained the confidence of oddsmakers after the Week 6 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
According to Tipico Sportsbook, Kansas City (4-2) are 3.5-point favorites over San Francisco next Sunday (3-3). The over/under point total is set at 48.5 points scored. The money line is now -165 for the Chiefs, giving K.C. a 62.26% implied win probability. Keep in mind this Kansas City team is now 2-4 against the spread this season and they’re also 3-3 on the over/under point total.
It’s a bit surprising to see the Chiefs favored after this loss. The 49ers have one of the stingiest pass defenses in the NFL through six weeks and they’re also quite adept at thwarting the ground game. The biggest inconsistency for San Francisco has come on the offensive side of the ball, but they’ve still got plenty of playmakers in Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk.
Both teams are dealing with key injuries and absences, but the star power is really taking a hit for San Fran. Trent Williams, Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead and Jimmie Ward are all dealing with injuries and their statuses are unclear heading into Week 7.
This game actually marks the first time the Chiefs and 49ers have faced off in the regular season since Super Bowl LIV. They played a preseason game against each other last year, but this is the first game where the results actually count. You just know that San Francisco is going to be looking for some revenge and they may get it. After the Chiefs’ Week 4 victory over the Bucs earlier this season, Super Bowl rematches from LIII onward have gone in favor of the team that lost in the Super Bowl.
