Chiefs' Mahomes Practices After Ankle Injury, Ready For Broncos

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes participated in practice on Wednesday and is expected to play in the upcoming game against the Broncos after sustaining a minor left ankle injury during Monday night's game against the Buccaneers. The injury occurred as Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to Samaje Perine while rolling to his right. Despite experiencing sharp pain, Mahomes continued to play and led the Chiefs to a victory.

Mahomes reassured fans that his ankle is improving, although he admitted to feeling some soreness. He expressed eagerness to continue practicing and testing his ankle throughout the week. This is not the first time Mahomes has dealt with an ankle injury, having previously managed similar issues during crucial playoff games.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid affirmed Mahomes' ability to handle the injury and praised his dedication to managing it effectively. Mahomes wasted no time in beginning his recovery process post-game and has been diligently receiving treatment to ensure his readiness for the upcoming game against the Broncos on a short week.

In other injury updates, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is still sidelined with a hamstring injury, while defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton is recovering from a bruised knee. The Chiefs are hopeful to regain players like Charles Omenihu and Isiah Pacheco for the remainder of the season.

Despite facing various injuries, the Chiefs have made strategic moves to bolster their roster, including acquiring players like Joshua Uche and Kareem Hunt. Additionally, the trade for DeAndre Hopkins has proven to be a significant asset, with the wide receiver showcasing his talent in recent games.
