Chiefs DE Carlos Dunlap to be honored with a parade in hometown

The offseason activities continue to be in full swing for members of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVII winning team. The latest player to be honored following the victory is veteran defensive end, Carlos Dunlap.

Dunlap is set to be the guest of honor of the Dorchester School District in his hometown of North Charleston, South Carolina. They’re set to hold a parade to celebrate Dunlap on Thursday, March 23. During the 2022 season, Dunlap appeared in all seventeen regular season games for the Chiefs collecting four sacks, batting down passes, and providing extra veteran leadership for the Super Bowl champions.

The Fort Dorchester High School alum graduated back in 2007. His mother, Dr. Diana-Ross Jackson, will also be honored by Dorchester District Two Superintendent Shane Robbins. She’ll be presented with a challenge coin.

The parade route is scheduled to leave Faith Church in North Charleston at 9 a.m. on Thursday, then head toward River Oaks Middle and Eagle Nest Elementary schools. Fans and neighborhood residents can view the festivities on the sideway along Appian Way, between Dorchester Road and River Oaks Drive. Dunlap is also expected to visit students in the area during his trip home.

Dunlap signed a one-year deal during the start of training camp last season to help fortify the defensive line. The Chiefs could consider bringing back the veteran free agent following the departures of Frank Clark and Khalen Saunders this offseason should he seek to continue his NFL career.
