VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy released 6,595 crore to about 44 lakh beneficiaries as part of third phase of Amma Vodi scheme at Kodi Rammurthy stadium in Srikakulam on Monday. Noting that investments in education are sacred and financial constraints should not get in the way of acquiring knowledge, he said the lives of children would change only when they get good education.
The CM further said that despite his government’s ongoing “war with evil politicians”, he will ensure that quality education reaches every household in the state. “Education has the power to change children’s future, it is the real asset of people. My government is at war with ‘dusta chatustayam’ (four evil persons). But no one can do any harm to me as long as I have the blessings of people,” he said. After releasing Amma Vodi assistance, Jagan said the scheme would cover over 43.96 lakh mothers and benefit nearly 80 lakh children. “It is a great programme through which 6,595 crore would be directly deposited into mothers’ accounts. Around 500 crore would be spent to provide tablets costing 12,000 each to about 4.7 lakh students in September. Also, digital boards are being set up in all classrooms,” he added.
