Chiedozie Ogbene scores rocket for Rotherham in Wembley victory

Chiedozie Ogbene rocketed Rotherham United to Wembley glory to complete a dream week for the Irishman.

Fresh off scoring against Belgium at the Aviva, the 24-year-old netted a belter in extra-time as Rotherham won the Papa John Trophy.

After finishing 2-2 in regular time, Ogbene took matters into his own hands in the 96th minute at Wembley.

Picking the ball up 25 yards from goal, the former League of Ireland star took one touch before unleashing an unstoppable shot just inside the post.

Rotherham went on to bag another through Michael Ihiekwe to seal a 4-2 victory and lift the trophy.

But it is Ogbene who continues to turn heads off the back of his impressive performances on the international stage.

Ireland legend Johnny Giles thinks Ogbene could be a star of the future for his country.

"There were some outstanding performances - Young Ogbene - very, very good, he's a promising lad," he told Off the Ball.

"You talk about attitude, you're always looking for a good attitude - and this kid has a great attitude.

"He'll chase; he'll run and he scores goals, and he's a real capture for us."
