Thirty-eight people have now been sickened by E. coli O157:H7 in an outbreak linked to ready-to-eat chicken wraps, up from 25 in late September. Federal regulators have not named the brand, manufacturer, retailers, or the states where illnesses occurred, according to Food Safety News and the FDA's table of active outbreak investigations.
The wrap outbreak is not the only one without a named food. The FDA has begun on-site inspections at undisclosed locations in a Listeria outbreak that has sickened 11 people and a Salmonella outbreak with 43 cases, neither with a product publicly identified, Food Safety News reported Thursday. The FDA's table lists several other active investigations in which the food has not yet been identified.
