An alleged cocaine import and trafficking operation has had its wings clipped after a 39-year-old man was arrested and charged in Melbourne.

The Sale man allegedly used the pseudonym "Chicken man" online while importing and trafficking cocaine and other drugs into Victoria.

After properties in Sale, Silverleaves, Strathmore and Patterson Lakes were raided, police seized a range of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA.

The 39-year-old was arrested in Strathmore on Wednesday, with police believing the drug ring used encrypted messaging apps.

He was charged on five counts of importing a marketable quantity of illegal drugs, trafficking and possessing prohibited drugs and breaching his bail conditions.

A coronial inquiry into a drug overdose prompted the investigation in April, focusing on drug trafficking across Victoria.

He will face Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday afternoon.
