GLENDALE, ARIZ. — The Chicago White Sox reportedly added pitching depth Sunday, signing Vince Velasquez.
The move is pending a physical, according to FanSided’s Robert Murray, who first reported the deal.
Velasquez, 29, went 3-9 with a 6.30 ERA in 25 combined outings (21 starts) for the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres last season.
The right-hander has a 31-44 record with a 4.95 ERA and 716 strikeouts in 156 career appearances (127 starts) for the Houston Astros (2015), Phillies (2016-21) and Padres (2021). He had career highs in wins (nine), starts (30) and strikeouts (161) in 2018.
The Sox have been active post-lockout. They reportedly signed reliever Joe Kelly to a two-year deal and second baseman Josh Harrison for one year on Saturday.
