The 2023 NBA Draft is less than two months away, and while the Chicago Bulls will have to get lucky in order to land a first-round pick, it’s possible that one of the top prospects of the class could be headed to Chicago.
Do the Bulls have a first-round pick in 2023?
Maybe. The NBA Draft Lottery (set for May 16th) will determine the Bulls’ fate. The overwhelming likelihood is that the Bulls will send their 2023 first rounder to Orlando – an asset involved in the Nikola Vucevic trade – but that pick is top-four protected.
That means if the Bulls land within the top four in the Draft Lottery, Chicago will retain the pick and send their 2024 first-rounder to Orlando instead.
So what are the odds? Not great, but the Bulls have enjoyed some lottery luck in the past, most notably to land Derrick Rose in 2008.
The Bulls have a 1.5 percent chance to land the No. 1 overall pick, which would almost certainly mean welcoming teenage phenom Victor Wembanyama to the United Center.
In total, the Bulls have an 8.5 percent chance to land somewhere within the top four.
