The Chicago Bears have made history by hiring Jennifer King as their first female coach in franchise history. King will be working as an offensive assistant with running backs under the leadership of Coach Matt Eberflus. The coaching staff was completed with the announcement of the final six members.
Chris Beatty has been appointed as the wide receivers coach, while Chad Morton will be in charge of coaching the running backs. Thomas Brown will take on the role of offensive passing game coordinator, Jason Houghtaling will serve as the assistant offensive line coach, and Robbie Picazo will work as an offensive assistant focusing on quarterbacks and receivers.
King made history in 2021 as the first Black female to serve as a primary position coach in the NFL while with Washington. She initially joined Washington in 2020 as an offensive intern and has since spent three seasons as an assistant running backs coach. Prior to her coaching career, King played 12 seasons as a seven-time All-American quarterback and wide receiver for the Carolina Phoenix women’s tackle football team from 2006-17.
Brown brings 13 years of experience to the Bears, including four in the NFL. He previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in 2023 and worked with the Rams for three seasons. Beatty, a former CFL player, has 15 seasons of coaching experience in college and most recently coached wide receivers for the Los Angeles Chargers.
Morton, a seven-year NFL veteran, spent the last decade in various roles with the Seattle Seahawks before joining the Bears. Picazo, with 11 years of coaching experience, has worked with Seattle and Houston in recent years. Houghtaling, who spent the past three seasons with the Tennessee Titans, will now serve as the offensive line coach for the Bears.
This new coaching lineup brings a wealth of experience and diversity to the Chicago Bears organization, marking a significant step forward in the NFL's commitment to inclusivity and representation.
