Chhattisgarh: Youth killed as speeding bus rams two-wheeler

RAIPUR: A bike rider was killed after a speeding bus rammed into the two-wheeler in Janjgir-Champa on Sunday morning.

The bike got trapped and was dragged for up to 100 meters. After the accident, the driver stopped the bus and fled the spot. Later, the youth was taken to the hospital after the highway patrol vehicle arrived.

Police said Sarju Kumar Sahu (26), a resident of Bhadesar of Janjgir police station area, used to run a general store in the village. He was heading towards Janjgir to collect goods at around nine on Sunday morning when the accident took place in front of the district jail on National Highway-49.

The critically injured bike rider was taken to the district hospital from where he was referred to another hospital, however, by then he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have seized the bus and a search is on to trace its driver. A case has also been registered.
