Chhattisgarh's IAS officer applies for VRS to start new innings in politics

RAIPUR: The 2008-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from Chhattisgarh, Neelkanth Tekam has applied for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) reportedly to start a new innings in politics and enhance the scope of public service.

“Yes, I have applied for the VRS one month back so that I can expand my work area. It will be too early to reveal my motive as I am still bound by the civil services rules. My style of working is different and I like to work for the people by staying between them. There are some limitations in the IAS job even though it allows us to work for the people. I cannot say the exact date of my application for the VRS, but I can say that it is nearly a month old,” Tekam told the TOI on Thursday.
