RAIPUR: A 22-year-old woman paid Rs 21 lakh, to the man she was in a relationship with, after he blackmailed to post her intimate video on the internet in Bilaspur district. The accused further pressured her for more money while he continued raping her. The matter came to light when the woman’s father found the money, which he had got after selling land property, was missing.
Police have booked the man and launched a search to nab him. The alleged accused Om Prakash Dubey of Bilaspur befriended the college going woman about two years ago and they got into a love-relationship. Recently, in May, Dubey took her to a friend’s house where he raped her. This continued for next meetings while he recorded a video to blackmail her later.
Threatening her to make the video viral on social media, the man demanded Rs 25 lakh from the woman despite her pleas.
Upon continuous pressure and being repeatedly raped, the woman decided to steal her father’s money that he got after selling his land. She got Rs 21 lakh from father’s locker and gave it to the man, but this didn’t satisfy him and he demanded for more money.
Meanwhile, the woman’s father was rattled upon not finding the money. Seeing him so shocked, the woman decided to narrate her ordeal to the father. He immediately decided to approach police and based on his complaint, an FIR was lodged. However, Dubey was found at large.
Police said that Dubey had bought a car and bike from the money and was spending it here and there. The risk of video going viral continues, until he’s caught, police said.
