Cher’s son Elijah Allman arrested twice in three days over burglary and school incident

Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman has been arrested for the second time in three days following an alleged break-in in New Hampshire.

Allman, 49, was taken into custody on Sunday in Windham after police said he broke into a residential property. In a statement, local officers confirmed he has been charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and breach of bail.

He was arraigned on Monday and is being held on preventative detention, police said.

The arrest comes just days after Allman was detained on Friday over an alleged disturbance at St Paul’s School in Concord, a private institution with which he has no affiliation.

According to police, he was accused of “causing a disturbance and acting belligerently”. He was charged with two counts of simple assault, as well as criminal trespassing, criminal threatening and disorderly conduct. He was later released and is due to be arraigned on April 20 in relation to those charges.

Allman is the only son of Cher and the late Gregg Allman, who died in 2017. Cher is also mother to Chaz Bono, whom she shares with her former husband and musical partner Sonny Bono.

The Standard has contacted a representative for Cher for comment.

Allman has previously spoken about his struggles with addiction and mental health. In December 2023, Cher filed for conservatorship over her son, citing concerns that he was “substantially unable to manage his financial resources” due to what court documents described as severe mental health and substance abuse issues.

However, she withdrew the petition in September 2024 after the pair reportedly reached a private agreement.

Last year, Allman also made headlines after being taken to hospital when authorities found him “acting erratically”.

At the time, his estranged wife, singer Marieangela King, issued a statement defending him. King, frontwoman of British pop band KING, married Allman in 2013. He filed for divorce in November 2021.

In her statement to People, King said that while Allman had faced personal challenges, he remained committed to sobriety and to those he loved.

“Like many, he continues to confront his inner struggles — but it is important to recognise that he does so from a place of strength, not defeat,” she said, adding that her support for him was “steadfast”.

Police investigations into the latest incidents are ongoing.
