Chennai to Dubai by bus for Rs 10,000? TNSTC passenger wanting to go to Hosur gets a 'Bhavani Bypass to Dubai' ticket

A routine bus journey in Tamil Nadu turned into an unexpected viral moment after a passenger received a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) ticket showing his destination as Dubai, UAE, with a fare of Rs 10,000.

The unusual incident took place on Monday when P Damadoran boarded a Coimbatore-Bengaluru TNSTC bus at Bhavani Bypass along with his friend M Raja. The two passengers were travelling to Hosur, for which the actual fare is Rs 150 per person.

How did a bus ticket to Hosur become a ticket to Dubai?

After paying the fare, Damadoran checked the ticket issued by the conductor and was left stunned. Instead of showing Hosur as the destination, the electronic ticket listed “Dubai, UAE”.

The surprise did not end there. The fare printed on the ticket was Rs 10,000 per male passenger, far higher than the actual ticket price of Rs 150.

The bizarre error quickly caught the attention of fellow passengers and locals, who found humour in the unexpected international destination.

Ticket photo goes viral on social media

Damadoran shared a photo of the ticket on social media, where it rapidly went viral. Users flooded the comments section with jokes and sarcastic remarks, with many wondering whether TNSTC had launched an international bus service connecting Tamil Nadu to Dubai.

The unusual printing error sparked widespread amusement online, turning an ordinary bus ticket into a talking point across social media platforms.

TNSTC explains reason behind the Dubai ticket error

Following the viral post, officials from the TNSTC Salem Division clarified that the incident was caused by a software glitch in the electronic ticketing machine used by the conductor.

According to the transport corporation, the passenger was charged only the correct fare for the journey, and the destination and fare printed on the ticket were the result of a technical error.

Officials said the issue was linked to the ticketing system and did not affect the actual amount collected from the passenger.

Software glitch creates unexpected viral moment

While the error was later explained, the incident provided social media users with plenty of amusement. What was meant to be a short trip from Bhavani to Hosur briefly appeared to be an international journey to Dubai worth Rs 10,000.

The incident has once again highlighted how small technical glitches can sometimes create big viral moments online.
