Fashion keeps getting flipped on its stylish head. First, Christian Dior decided to transform its Pre-Fall 2024 lookbook into a full-fledged runway show held at the Brooklyn Museum. The clothes look even more appealing in motion. (Never mind all of the designers coming and going from fashion houses.) Now Chloe's new creative director is switching things up by unveiling the French label's Pre-Fall 2024 lookbook after its Fall 2024 runway show. Kind of defeats the purpose of calling it "pre," doesn't it?
Although there's a method to the madness. Chemena Kamali wanted her first introduction as the head of the treasured fashion house to be in runway form. Hence debuting the Fall 2024 collection prior to the Pre-Fall 2024 offering.
There are some similarities. Not so unusual since pre-fall and fall lines usually feed off of each other. The Chloe-branded chain belts make another appearance. Along with coordinating necklaces, of course. It wouldn't be boho, or boho 2.0 for that matter, without ruffles upon ruffles. In fact, the very first look from the brand's Fall 2024 show is almost reimagined for Pre-Fall 2024. This time around, a black leather cape is layered over a ruffled sheer dress and capped off with black over-the-knee boots. We actually like the new version better. We're also digging the coats, especially the leather high-collar one with fabulous fringe and the not-so-classic trench coat.
Just like the Fall 2024 collection, Pre-Fall 2024 is a strong showing for Chloe. Based on Kamali's explanation for the switch, we're assuming this is a one-and-done restructuring. Many European brands are adopting the new order, but we're not-so-secretly hoping that designers opt to keep the old format. Or maybe we should begin referring to the collections as "Post-Fall." Hell, we already have two names for the other off season lines as designers fluctuate between calling them resort and cruise collections.
