Cheltenham Festival visitors are set to be hit with a shocking price hike with the famous meeting just around the corner.
This year's Festival will kick off on Tuesday, 14 March with thousands expected to attend.
But punters travelling to Cheltenham will have to empty their pockets if they plan to stay in the town.
Irishracing.com have studied the prices of a four-night stay in Cheltenham and visitors will have to pay prices 670% higher than normal.
An average four night stay in January would set a visitor back €615 but on the week of Cheltenham it will cost some €4740.
Airbnb prices are also subject to a similar price hike with prices jumping some 225% for a four night stay the week of the festival.
An Airbnb for four nights in January would set a visitor back €527 but that price has increased to €1860 during the Cheltenham Festival.
And in comparison, a 14 night all-inclusive trip to the Caribbean would cost €2270.
An IrishRacing.com spokesperson said: “It would be silly to not expect an increase in the cost of accommodation during the Cheltenham Festival, but racing fans will be shocked to see that they have cough up 670% more for a room than at any other time of year.
“Racing fans may have to pay on average £4,181 (€4740) for a room during the Festival, which would take a lot of things going your way on the track to cover.”
A total of 2,660 listings were analysed on Booking.com and Airbnb to calculate the average cost of a four-night stay in Cheltenham from January to June on the 14th-17th of each month.
