Cheltenham Festival 2022 day three tips including winners for Ryanair Chase and Stayers Hurdle

We're halfway through Cheltenham now but there are plenty more thrills and spills still to come.

Day Two saw a shocker as two-time Grand National winner Tiger Roll bowed out with defeat.

But there is much more to follow in the final two days as the famous festival draws to its crescendo.

Our man Garry Owen has picked out his bets and selections for Day Three right here.

FLOORING PORTER (3:30) can retain his Stayers’ Hurdle crown on Day 3 of Cheltenham.

Gavin Cromwell’s horse went into last year’s renewal as the most exciting young three-miler around.

And he fully fulfilled his lofty reputation with a spectacular pillar-to-post defeat of Sire Du Berlais .

The gelding was definitely feeling the effects of that effort when flopping at Punchestown next time.

The seven-year-old endured another bad day at the office when falling on his comeback at Navan.

However, he appeared back on track when an unlucky second to Klassical Dream at Leopardstown.

This has always been the race that mattered so the superstar can turn the tables on his old rival.

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS (1:30) can deny Bob Olinger in the trappy Turners Novices’ Chase.

Willie Mullins’ horse handled this track well when slamming Langer Dan in the Martin Pipe Hurdle.

He then shrugged off the promotion to Grade 1 company when bolting up at Punchestown in April.

Despite those triumphs, the strapping six-year-old’s future clearly lay over the larger obstacles.

And he totally confirmed that impression with a brilliant debut win at Leopardstown in December.

The gelding was even better when routing Master Mcshee in a Grade 1 back at the Foxrock venue.

The son of Timos looks a future superstar so he can jump and gallop a strong field into submission.

The Closutton Maestro can enjoy a Grade 1 double with ALLAHO (2:50) in the Ryanair Chase.

The gelding claimed this contest 12 months ago with a power-packed display of front-running.

He then lost nothing in defeat when second to Chacun Pour Soi over two miles at Punchestown.

The eight-year-old comfortably added the John Durkan to his CV on his return at the same venue.

The son of No Risk At All warmed-up nicely for today by crushing Fakir D’oudairies at Thurles.

The superstar is the best 2m 4f chaser in the business so he can scorch to victory once again.

Mullins can complete a treble with BRANDY LOVE (4:50) in the Dawn Run Novices’ Hurdle.

The daughter of Jet Away looked a nice timber prospect after some smart efforts in bumpers.

And the mare certainly shaped extremely well when thrashing Limerick Lace on debut at Naas.

The six-year-old then hated the right-handed track in the Grade 3 Solerina Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

However, she still recorded another career when chasing home the exciting Allegorie De Vassy .

I doubt we’ve seen the best of this smart type who can go one better at this left-handed venue.

SASSY YET CLASSY (2:10) can turn on the style in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle Final.

Gordon Elliott’s charge went into plenty of notebooks when third on her comeback at Clonmel.

The mare built on that run when slamming Dallas Des Pictons in a red-hot Punchestown handicap.

She then unseated her rider after being hampered at the first flight in another warm event at Navan.

The eight-year-old got back on track when chinned by Futurum Regem over 2m 4f at the same track.

This huge prize has clearly been the aim ever since so she can defy a stiff British mark back up in trip.

THE GLANCING QUEEN (4:10) can continue Alan King’ magnificent week in the Festival Plate.

The mare handled this track well when fifth in the Parnell Novice Hurdle at this meeting last year.

Big things were clearly expected over fences as she began her career in Listed company at Bangor.

And the eight-year-old looked thoroughly professional when hosing up from talented Maskada.

She put in another excellent display when thrashing Barbados Blue in a similar event at Warwick.

The daughter of Jeremy was then unlucky to encounter L’homme Presse in the Dipper Chase here.

There is plenty more to come from this smart type who can beat the boys on her handicap debut.

AIN’T THAT A SHAME (5:30) can maintain Henry De Bromhead’s revival in the Kim Muir Chase.

The eight-year-old ended a fair novice hurdle career with a good win over three miles at Thurles.

He improved for the switch to fences when third to the talented Stattler on debut at Fairyhouse.

The gelding then made the best of a bad job when second to Galopin Des Champs at Leopardstown.

The chaser lost little in defeat again when edged by Champagne Platinum over three miles at Navan.

The son of Jeremy was staying-on very strongly so he can opening his account over fences up in trip.

DUBAI DEVILS (3:05) can come good in the BK Racing Grand National Handicap Chase at Hexham.

Paul Stafford’s gelding made strong late headway to finish third behind Call The Tune at Navan.

That was a decent effort so this tough type can defy a welter-burden on his first try at four miles.

CROAGH PATRICK (4:25) can take the N-E Bet App Handicap Chase for thriving Sam England.

The gelding benefitted from a wind operation when second to Ashjan on his return at Sedgefield.

The seven-year-old should be fighting fit so he can deny some exposed rivals back over three miles.

TARTAN COOKIE (5:10) looks tasty for Hawick handler Ewan Whillans in the handicap hurdle.

The gelding is open to progress over three miles after whipping Smokey The Bandit at Newcastle.

Simon West is hitting peak form so I’m siding with BOBBIE THE DAZZLER (5:45) in the last.

The mare still lurks on an inviting timber mark after outpointing Bird On The Wire at Sedgefield.
