Chelsea transfer round-up: Arsenal set to inflict Mykhaylo Mudryk payback with late swoop

On the pitch, it is not a good time to be a Chelsea fan.

Graham Potter's side are 10th in the Premier League table - 10 points behind Manchester United in fourth - and have been knocked out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. The Blues are still in the Champions League and face German side Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.

Off the pitch, however, it is an exciting time to be a Chelsea fan. Todd Boehly has invested more than £400million into the squad since his takeover last summer... and more players could be on the way.

Here are the latest transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge.

Ziyech price tag revealed

Chelsea want just €20million (£17.6m) for Hakim Ziyech in January - and they might even accept a lower offer.

That is according to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims the Blues are willing to let the Morocco international, 29, leave the club on a permanent deal only. It is believed they have named their price but are willing to go lower during negotiations.

There are a queue of clubs lining up to sign Ziyech, according to reports. Jose Mourinho's Roma, who are willing to let Bournemouth target Nicolo Zaniolo leave the club in January, and Serie A champions AC Milan both want the experienced campaigner.

Ziyech joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and has played 98 games for the club. He has won three trophies at Stamford Bridge - the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup - and has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

Several Premier League clubs are also chasing Ziyech's signature - including Leicester, Aston Villa and Newcastle. A move to the latter would perhaps stop them from trying to sign Everton talent Anthony Gordon, which would benefit Chelsea in the long run.

Arsenal after Chelsea target

Arsenal have submitted a £60m bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The Ecuador international, 21, is a transfer target for Chelsea after making 18 Premier League appearances this season and impressing for his country at the recent World Cup in Qatar. It is believed Chelsea's verbal offer of £55m was rejected by the Seagulls.

As reported by The Athletic, Brighton have also rejected Arsenal's offer.

Caicedo is expected to discuss his future with Brighton chiefs before deadline day on Tuesday, January 31. The transfer story has emerged just a week or so after Chelsea signed long-term Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Everton lower Gordon price

Speaking of Gordon, Everton are set to lower their asking price for the England U21 international.

Gordon, 21, missed several training sessions during the week in an apparent bid to force a move from Goodison Park. Chelsea tried to sign the emerging winger last summer and may reignite their interest if he comes available in the last few days of this window.

Newcastle are leading the race for Gordon's signature, although they may think twice if Ziyech - a cheaper and more established option - moves to St James' Park.

As reported by The Telegraph, Everton will consider an offer of around £40m plus add-ons for Gordon. Their previous asking price was £60m, but selling the youngster now would allow them to use that money to bring in two or three new players in January.

Everton are in a relegation battle after picking up just 15 points from their first 20 Premier League games this season. No team in the division have picked up fewer points. The Toffees are not dead and buried just yet, as they are only two points from safety.

It also make little sense for Everton to keep hold of Gordon if he wants to leave the club. The talent has scored just three Premier League goals this season - providing no assists - and will continue to drop in value if he does not regain his form at Goodison Park.

That being said, Gordon is sill regarded as a huge prospect. As Everton defender James Tarkowski told the BBC in August, "He has been different class... Whatever comes will happen, but I love having him on my team. There is a reason why teams are after him."
