Chelsea told to sign 'brilliant' Jude Bellingham ahead of Liverpool as Real Madrid pull out

Borussia Dortmund and England wonderkid Jude Bellingham would be a "brilliant signing" for the likes of Chelsea, says former Premier League striker Teddy Sheringham.

The 19-year-old has come to the fore as one of the most exciting prospects in the world football. His performances in the 2022-23 season have definitely backed it up as he has emphasised his importance for the Yellow Wall and more recently for the Three Lions.

Bellingham became the second youngest teenager to score at a World Cup for England following his glorious header in their 6-2 win over Iran. But the midfielder isn't just known for the goal, he has illustrated his quality in midfield and going forward which has seen him likened to former England and Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard.

Chelsea have been recently mooted with a move for the two-time Dortmund captain. However, recent reports have suggested that Liverpool are among the clubs that have heaped Bellingham as their number one priority.

Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have also been monitoring the midfielder, have now reportedly ended their pursuit of the former Birmingham man.

And Sheringham feels that the 19-year-old would be a no-brainer for any of the Premier League's top six. He told Boylesports: "Jude Bellingham was so impressive against Iran in every department.

"If Kalvin Phillips had been playing there's no way he'd have scored the first goal.

"Phillips would have been 25 yards back and watching the play unfold. Bellingham had been told to get forward and obviously had the legs to get back.

"He would be a brilliant signing for any 'big six' Premier League club. He's not a carbon copy of Steven Gerrard but they're similar in the fact they both drive forward from deep.

"In terms of which club he suits, Man United will want him but City and Liverpool are way ahead of them at the moment. City looks the most likely, particularly as Pep Guardiola is staying for another two years."
