Chelsea told to complete 'perfect' manager appointment ahead of 'arrogant' Jose Mourinho return

Graham Potter suffered the same fate as his predecessor, Thomas Tuchel, after he was sacked just six months into his tenure as Chelsea manager. Todd Boehly is now searching for a new permanent manager to appoint with Frank Lampard set to take charge of the Blues until the end of the season.

Lampard suffered a defeat in his first game back in charge of Chelsea away to Wolves and now prepares his players to face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals. A number of managers have been linked with the vacant position at Stamford Bridge including Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Enrique.

Julian Nagelsmann remains a serious contender to replace Potter but the process to appoint a new manager will not be rushed, football.london understands. Mourinho fuelled speculation over a potential return to Chelsea following Potter's dismissal as he has impressed with Roma in Italy.

Former Chelsea and Manchester United star Paul Parker believes Pochettino is the 'perfect' manager for the Blues to appoint - rather than look to bring Mourinho back to Stamford Bridge for a third time. Parker told SpilXperten: “I think that Chelsea should do everything in their power to get Pochettino.

"He is the perfect manager for them. People were criticising him after he left PSG, which is miserable. That club is outrageous and if you're not winning the Champions League you're going to be sacked.

“He did amazingly well with Tottenham. He got them into the top four, he took them to the Champions League final and the fans loved him. He plays entertaining football and he could do big things with Chelsea.

“The last person I want to watch at Chelsea is Jose Mourinho.. And I don't think that Chelsea want him back for the third time.

"They are tired of his arrogance and they have to move on, even though it would be typical for Chelsea to do something like that and hire him.”
