Chelsea tipped to beat Tottenham in new manager hunt as rivals collide over several targets

Elite managers will pick Chelsea over Tottenham, Ian Wright has warned the north London club as they continue on their search for a new head coach.

The Premier League rivals are both on the lookout for a new manager after the exits of Graham Potter and Antonio Conte, and appear to be fishing in the same pond with a number of targets linked to the capital clubs.

Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann are high up on their lists while the likes of Ruben Amorim and Brendan Rodgers have been tipped to interest both Spurs and Chelsea.

Former Arsenal and England striker Wright believes, should a manager have his pick of the clubs, Chelsea are almost certain to win out.

“He would definitely take one of those now,” he told Premier League Productions when asked about Rodgers’ next move after leaving Leicester.

“It’s just Spurs’ luck. Spurs sack their manager, and then Chelsea sack their manager. If you are that elite manager, then you are going to go to Chelsea.”

Wright added that Rodgers is primed for a top job in European football despite struggling to drag Leicester out of a relegation battle before his exit over the weekend.

He said: “The [European] semi-finals, the FA Cup and the fact that they finished fifth twice - they played some good stuff.

“I think people will see it and say that he has brought them to a certain place. Then everything has fizzled out.”
