A certain Chelsea FC star has conformed Todd Boehly talks and has outlined his and Clearlake Capital's ambitions for the Women's side in 2022/23.
Boehly has invested heavily in both the men's and women's squad this summer as both Emma Hayes and Graham Potter were backed with various new recruits. In the men's remit, more than £250million was spent on various signings, with most of the budget spent in defence.
Meanwhile, the Women's set-up saw nine new arrivals, with world-class defender Kadeisha Buchanan and West Ham's Katerina Svitkova the standout acquisitions. The reigning FAWSL Champions, who are expected to face heavy competition this season for the crown from the likes of London rivals Arsenal and Man City, face newly promoted Liverpool in Merseyside this Sunday as Hayes' side look for the first three points of 2022/23.

Ahead of this clash at Prenton Park, Fran Kirby, a star of Sarina Wiegman's Lionesses side that won the Euros over the summer, has reflected on her personal encounters with Boehly so far and as expected, his dedication to Women's Football is top notch. "I've had some really good conversations," she said in an interview alongside Mason Mount for The Times. "We got invited to the game at Stamford Bridge the other day and sat with Todd and met people on the board, and they just seemed super, super positive about women's football and women's sport in general.
"They came down to the facilities and said this is not acceptable for a club like Chelsea. We have always got on with it. We've had a moan here and there when we've had to come up here at 7am to use the pool — I'm not a morning person! — but we've got stuff done, won some trophies.
She then added more on the ownership: "The owners want to drive every aspect of the club. They want to drive us, drive the academy, drive the men's team more. You can see that with the signings they've made, the money they've spent — not just for the men but for us as well."
The article claimed that Mount nodded in agreement to this comment, demonstrating the positive impact the part LA Dodgers' owner has had on both squads. In a week where the American has been criticised for his views on a potential all-star game, it's nice to see some complimentary views shared about Roman Abramovich's successor.
