Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku sends Liverpool two-word transfer message after $66m deal

Christopher Nkunku has sent a message to his former RB Leipzig teammate Dominik Szoboszlai after the Hungary forward completed a big money transfer to Liverpool.

In a month that has seen the two chief Leipzig stars leave the club for the Premier League, Nkunku extended his congratulations and joy towards Szboszlai on Intsagram.

It was announced on Sunday that the 22-year-old would be joining the Reds subject to a work permit, bringing to an end his two year stay in Germany.

As part of the Red Bull scouting network, Szboszlai joined RB Salzburg for less than £500,000 ($635,000) before moving to Leizpig after three years in Austria. From there he has gone on to become one of the most exciting young attacking midfielders in the game.

With versatility to play across the front line and in a supporting role, too, he notched six league goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga last year. He has seven goals for his country, that he is also captain of, and is the undoubted attraction of that team.

Mix that talent with the clear skill and output God that Nkunku has become in recent years and its no wonder that Leipzig were such a fun team to watch. In Timo Werner they have speed, quickness and pace. Nkunku is a technical marvel in one of the unknown and undefined posiitons behind the striker and Szoboszlai comes in with the promise of being a better Kai Havertz.

Even with such a side they still scoredd 19 less goals than second placed Borussia Dortmund, yet finished third by just five points, coming within two results of winning the league. Now, their two main forwards have left but will be on the same pitch once again soon enough.

Liverpool face Chelsea on the opening day of the season in a mouthwatering game at Stamford Bridge. For Nkunku and Szoboszlai, it will be a new experience having played 73 times with each other, linking up 13 times for goals.

For now though they are still good friends rather than serious rivals or enemies, and this has been shown online. In a repost of Liverpool's image of Szoboszlai, Nkunku wrote: "Let's go @szoboszlaidominik [hands up emoji, fire emoji]."

The new Chelsea star won't be saying the same when they face off in August. The 25-year-old will be aiming to make his first competitive appearance since completing a £52 million ($66m) transfer earlier this summer and won't be wanting even Szoboszlai to be smiling afterwards.
