Chelsea stance on Mauricio Pochettino revealed as Todd Boehly manager search continues

Chelsea are continuing their search for a new manager after they sacked Graham Potter following a disappointing six-month spell at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are considering a number of candidates including Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Mauricio Pochettino.

Nagelsmann has emerged as the front-runner for the vacant Chelsea head coach role, football.london understands, but Todd Boehly will not rush the process of appointing a successor to lead the club forward. Both the former Bayern Munich boss and Enrique have held talks with Chelsea representatives in London this month.

Frank Lampard was appointed as caretaker manager earlier this month but results have failed to improve as the Blues have lost their first four games under the 44-year-old. football.london understand that Nagelsmann is admired by the club's ownership group and they feel he has the attributes to match their long-term ambitions.

According to Simon Phillips, Pochettino is the candidate who is collectively liked and accepted by everyone on the Chelsea board. Writing in his siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com, the Blues have had consistent contact with the former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham boss.

Phillips states that Chelsea's search for a new manager has now entered the final stages and fans could be hearing about who their next manager might be in the coming weeks. The west London outfit are doing their best to operate as silent as possible, in the form of different briefings going out for different reasons.

The report adds that to this point though, club sources are continuing to say that nothing has been decided and the selection process remains open. It remains to be seen what sort of reaction would come if the Blues opted to appoint Pochettino given his ties to Tottenham, but his credentials and ability as a manager certainly fit in with Boehly's long-term vision at Stamford Bridge.
