Negotiating a new contract for Antonio Rudiger has been made a priority for one candidate bidding to complete a takeover of Chelsea.
Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government this week and his assets frozen, plunging the club into uncertainty, unable to take part in any financial dealings, including the sale of match tickets or merchandise.
They were given license to continue all footballing activities and continue to pay salaries, however, and it has since been reported that a takeover can still be made.
It is news that will have come as a relief for fans and prospective buyers alike.
One of those hopeful to takeover from Abramovich is Saudi Media, spearheaded by CEO Mohamed Alkhereiji, and according to a report from Goal he is a fan of the club.
The report also states exactly what his plans for the Blues would be should they win the race to takeover from Abramovich at the top of the club.
It all makes pleasant reading for Chelsea supporters too, with details of bid reportedly stating that they are prioritising the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge and player contracts, specifically the renewal of Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta's deals.
As things stand, both will leave the club as free agents this summer with Azpilicueta thought to be in talks with Barcelona over a move to the Camp Nou.
The chances of those departures were heightened amid the uncertainty of Abramovich's sanctioning, but it now appears that a takeover could go through in time to convince one or both to stay.
Under Abramovich, Chelsea remained eager to retain the services of both, but their offers to both remained unaccepted.
Rudiger and Azpilicueta are both huge favourites among the Stamford Bridge faithful and securing the futures of both would be a sure fire way to secure the admiration of supporters and Thomas Tuchel.
