Chelsea already need a huge turnaround in form if they are to secure Champions League football next season and finish inside the top four. Graham Potter is facing an injury crisis at Stamford Bridge with 10 players now sidelined after Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic picked up knocks against Manchester City.
The Blues suffered their sixth defeat of the season with Potter's side having won just once in their last eight matches in the English top-flight. Chelsea had the chance to move above Brentford and Brighton in the table but remain sat in 10th position after 17 matches.
Sterling and Pulisic both had to be substituted, weakening Potter's attacking options further after Armando Broja's long-term injury suffered during the World Cup break. Todd Boehly looks set to heavily invest in new signings in the January transfer window after completing deals for David Datro Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, with Chelsea looking to add a new forward, central midfielder and right wing-back, football.london understands.

So, how do Chelsea's next five fixtures compare with Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Man City? football.london takes a look.
08/01 Manchester City (A) - FA Cup - 4:30pm
The Blues have the chance to get revenge on City just days after losing 1-0 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. Potter could be without Pulisic and Sterling, who both picked up injuries during the defeat to Pep Guardiola's side on Thursday night.
12/01 Fulham (A) - Premier League - 8:00pm
The west London derby takes place just days after Chelsea's FA Cup tie against City. Fulham are currently three points ahead of the Blues in the table and sit three positions higher than Potter's side.
Fulham's star striker Aleksandr Mitrovic is set to miss the clash through suspension after picking up a booking against Leicester, handing Chelsea a huge boost after the Serbian striker has enjoyed a brilliant season. Potter will hope to have a number of players back from injury, including Ben Chilwell who could be reintegrated into the first team for the clash.
15/01 Crystal Palace (H) - Premier League - 2:00pm
Another London derby is on the horizon for the Blues with a match against Crystal Palace. Patrick Vieira's side sit just three points behind Chelsea but were recently torn apart in the second half of a 4-0 defeat against Tottenham at Selhurst Park.
Chelsea were able to beat Palace in the reverse fixture earlier this season thanks to a late goal from Conor Gallagher. Gallagher had spent a successful season on-loan with the Eagles but now finds himself back at Stamford Bridge and hoping to nail down a regular first team spot in the team.
21/01 Liverpool (A) - Premier League - 12:30pm
Like Chelsea, Liverpool have been a shadow of themselves this season and are struggling lower down the table, finding themselves seven points adrift of a top four spot. Jurgen Klopp's side are facing a number of injury problems and are shipping goals at the back, giving Chelsea a good chance of causing an upset at Anfield.
03/02 Fulham (H) - Premier League - 8:00pm
The second meeting of the season between these two sides comes just three weeks after the Blues travel to Craven Cottage. Chelsea will hope they can do the double over their west London rivals and leapfrog Marco Silva's side in the table to start February.
