Charly Musonda has confirmed his departure from Chelsea ahead of the upcoming transfer window with a heartfelt farewell message on Instagram. He will become a free agent in the coming weeks once his current contract with the west Londoners expires.
The 25-year-old forward featured just seven times for the Blues first-team since joining from Anderlecht 10 years ago. Musonda, who was often likened to Eden Hazard in his formative years at Cobham, saw his promising career slip away due to a series of heartbreaking injuries.
And, like many burgeoning talents before him at Chelsea, there wasn't a pathway created for the Belgian to blossom. He did make seven appearances during the 2017/18 campaign after an 18-month loan spell at Real Betis but then was sent to Celtic and Vitesse.
