Chelsea's good Wesley Fofana transfer chase news and who could start vs Leeds United

Two weeks of the transfer window remain and Chelsea aren't short of business to complete. The likes of Wesley Fofana, Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remain linked to the club, with Thomas Tuchel sill looking for further additions.

The Blues have already had two bids rejected for Fofana, with a record fee expected to be required to land the French defender. That would see Chelsea with more than £200million in incoming transfers this summer following first team additions in Kalidou Koulibaly, Raheem Sterling, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella.

There could still be a number of players heading in the opposite direction with Christian Pulisic most recently linked with a move to Manchester United while the Blues still hope to get the likes of Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi off their books.

With all that said, football.london answered your questions:

What is happening with Frenkie de Jong?

It has gone quiet on the Frenkie de Jong front. Man United have seemingly moved on as he made it clear he didn't want to leave Barcelona. That, I'm told is still the case and he's yet to give any indication he wants to leave. Chelsea still keen, though, and are willing to see this one down to the wire.

The fee between Chelsea and Barca has never been the issue. It's luring De Jong to come to Stamford Bridge that has proven to be the stumbling block so far. If he was to leave, Chelsea, as it stands, looks to be the most realistic destination.

Why are Chelsea still wasting time on the Wesley Fofana deal?

Chelsea's talks with Leicester over Fofana have been quite complicated. Intermediaries last week spoke to Leicester about a fee and now there is direct back and forth between Chelsea and Leicester – which is good news. Chelsea trying to get more of a feel for what sort of fee before Leicester would accept. Leicester still adamant they don't want to sell, but as we could see from Brendan Rodgers' comments last week, their stance has somewhat softened.

Will Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja have a good chance to make impacts this season and break into the starting eleven? Or will they be used as 90 min subs every time as has been the case for the first two games? Do you think Gallagher will start this weekend against Leeds?

We've obviously seen Gallagher and Broja be used from the bench, but it's such a long season and if Chelsea are to be fighting on all four fronts, we'll see other players used much more. For Gallagher, he's got a number of top-class midfielders above him in the pecking order, so it will be difficult. For Broja, he needs to take his chances, especially while Kai Havertz is misfiring in front of goal.

My opinion is RLC moves back into CM, James goes RWB, Cucurella LWB, Koulibaly, Silva and Azpi in defence. Who knows, though? Would be good to see Gallagher start.

Why are we going for Fofana for a world record fee when we have Chalobah who can still drastically improve?

Thomas Tuchel has wanted a right centre-back for some time now (see the pursuit of Jules Kounde last summer!). Chelsea are open to loaning Chalobah out for the season, so it's a position Tuchel thinks he can upgrade.

Can’t Cucurella technically play RCB if we needed him to? This would allow us to bring Emerson back in as cover on the LWB side and he’s shown he’s decent there

Cucurella can play LCB, I'm sure he could do a job at RCB, but that's not why he was brought in. I think Emerson will leave, if I'm honest.

Why haven’t we cut our losses and sold players like Kenedy, Ross Barkley, and Michy Batshuayi?

All three have been offered to a host of clubs, but a lot of clubs are reluctant to take a chance on them. They're difficult players to offload because of their wage demands. Trust me, Chelsea want to.

Are the rumours of Aubameyang getting guaranteed starts true? If so, would he be guaranteed for his whole contract??

Honestly, I don't know if Auba has been promised guaranteed starts, but at the same time, he's not the sort of player who'd agree to come to just sit on the bench!
