Chelsea provide Ben Chilwell injury update as Blues handed triple boost ahead of Norwich

Ben Chilwell has been pictured training on Chelsea's Cobham pitches once again.

The defender suffered a knee ligament injury in the second half of the impressive Champions League win over Juventus in November and he was subsequently expected to miss the rest of the season.

The club's official Instagram account posted a photo of the full-back working on the training ground alongside the caption: "Upping those fitness levels! @benchilwell."

Whilst his return date is still unknown, his return to the pitch is welcomed news after what has been a good week for the Blues' injured players.

Chelsea were without a number of faces for the trip to Turf Moor but their training numbers were boosted on Monday.

Cesar Azpilicueta picked up a knock in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool and missed Chelsea's last two fixtures against Luton Town and Burnley.

The Spaniard was back in action at Cobham ahead of Norwich however, pictured running with the ball away from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and also looking to challenge the likes of Andreas Christensen.

He was joined by countryman Marcos Alonso who also missed the game against the Clarets. Following the match, Thomas Tuchel said: “Marcos is still ill. He has quite a lot of Covid symptoms so he’s absolutely not able to do training or a game.”

Alonso was fully involved and was seen competing against the likes of N'Golo Kante.

Chelsea further stated that Chilwell was the only absence from Monday's first team training session, indicating that Callum Hudson-Odoi was also involved after missing the clash against Burnley.

It seems as though everything is coming together for Thomas Tuchel at the right time ahead of what promises to be a busy end to the season.
