Chelsea player ratings vs Brighton: Thiago Silva good as Blues drop more Premier League points

Kepa Arrizabalaga

Made a fine save from Mac Allister's deflected effort to keep Chelsea in the game for about a minute before Brighton levelled. Not much else to do really. 7

Cesar Azpilicueta

Made some very basic errors in the opening exchanges that saw him cop an earful from Tuchel. Couldn't get up and down the pitch to deal with Brighton. 6

Thiago Silva

Vital block from Cucurella's through that would have put Welbeck in the clear. Dealt well with Welbeck up until the striker was taken off and Maupay replaced him. One brilliant piece of defending on Welbeck summed up his class. 7

Antonio Rudiger

One of four Chelsea players who failed to track Adam Webster for the Brighton equaliser. Shouted a lot and was very disciplined in the backline. 7

Marcos Alonso

Faced a very stern test up against former Chelsea academy star Tariq Lamptey. The Brighton man got the better of him for a fair while, also got booked for dragging Lamptey down. One of a number of defenders who didn't react to Webster's run for the equaliser. 6

Jorginho

Back in the starting elven having sat out the defeat to Man City. Gave the ball away far too many times in the opening 20 minutes and Tuchel repeatedly turned away in disgust at the lack of precision. Better after the break but not quite at his best and taken off with ten minutes to go. 6

N'Golo Kante

Played for a second time in four days, which is not necessarily the wisest move. Picked up a simple assist by touching the ball off to Ziyech to whack home the opener. Some of his passing was a very slack in the second half. 6

Hakim Ziyech

Kept his place in the starting elven despite underwhelming at the Etihad. Struggled badly to start with before letting his frustrations out on the ball from 25 yards and firing past Sanchez, who should have done better. Flirted in and out of the game and subbed on 80 minutes. 7

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Barely figured in the first half on the left of the a front two with Lukaku and a very wild finish summed up his first half when in a good shooting position. Checked back inside and towards his own goal too often and the visiting fans voiced their frustration. 6

Mason Mount

Back in the starting eleven having given Tuchel the evil eyes for being dropped on Saturday. Looked to get Chelsea on the move at every opportunity and zipped passes about. Not sure why he was marking Webster for the equaliser and lost him. Didn't have the impact Tuchel will have wanted on his return to the team. 6

Romelu Lukaku

Managed to spin away from Dan Burn and create a chance for Azpilicueta but was well-marshalled by the Brighton man for the majority of the first period. Had one sight of goal in the second half but Sanchez saved well. Another rather tepid display. 6

Substitutes

Kai Havertz (for Lukaku, 80')

A couple of very nice lay-offs playing through the middle. 6

Mateo Kovacic (for Jorginho, 80')

Blazed one wild effort over the bar late on. 5

Timo Werner (for Ziyech, 80')

Couldn't get any joy out of Cucurella, much like Ziyech. 5
