Chelsea are preparing a plan to beat London rivals Tottenham to a key defensive signing that Antonio Conte would love in his team. Conte worked with Milan Skriniar during his time at Inter and is keen on strengthening his defensive options.
The Blues spent over £100million in the summer on defensive recruits as Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Wesley Fofana all arrived at Stamford Bridge. Graham Potter has had an indifferent start to his time as Chelsea manager and needs to turn the Blues form around if they are to secure a top four spot come the end of the season.
Potter has had to deal with a number of defensive injuries since replacing Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge and may be hoping to sign a new central defender to add depth in a key area of his squad. Skriniar was linked with a switch to Spurs last summer but now could make his way to Chelsea with the Blues preparing a plan to secure a deal for the Slovakian defender should contract negotiations with Inter break down.
