Chelsea have found goals hard to come by this season after allowing Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to leave the club in the summer. The Blues have scored only 29 goals in the Premier League - the lowest of the top 11 sides.
Since replacing Thomas Tuchel in September, Graham Potter has struggled to identify an out-and-out goalscorer in his squad. Kai Havertz is the club's top scorer this season with nine goals in 36 games, with Raheem Sterling the next best followed by three players on three goals.
Todd Boehly is understood to be preparing a move for a new number nine at the end of the season, with football.london understanding Christopher Nkunku has signed a pre-contract agreement over a move in the summer.

However, many supporters will be keen to stress that the club already have a target man on their books. Lukaku is currently out on loan with Inter Milan after his move from the Italian side in 2021 failed to hit the heights expected.
Currently, it seems likely that the forward will return to Stamford Bridge following his temporary spell at San Siro to hand Boehly a major decision to make. And over the international break, the 29-year-old has given the club three reasons why they should hand him another chance.
Lukaku netted all three goals for the Belgium national team as they started their 2024 European Championship qualifying campaign with a win over Sweden. The striker took his tally for his nation to 71 goals to hand new coach Domenico Tedesco a huge win in his first game.
After the game, Chelsea supporters took to Twitter to express their excitement at the possible return to west London of the striker in the summer. Here's what they've said.
@Neo__neuro: Romelu Lukaku to come back to Chelsea next season... who says no.
@CFCErnest: Lukaku hat-trick? Bring him back.
@burnett85037224: Lukaku returning to Chelsea in an absolute game-changer! He's a proven goal-scorer and will be a force to reckon with.
@CFCNzo: Lukaku hat-trick. Remember he's still our player.
@Blue_Jim_Bees: Lukaku scoring goals and Chelsea have no consistent goalscorers. Pure pain.
@jasonfox191: Bring him home.
@youngwayne4real: I want Lukaku back at Chelsea next season.
