Chelsea offer Levi Colwill in player-plus-cash deal for Marc Cucurella as Brighton demand £50m transfer fee

Chelsea are in talks to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton after the Spaniard’s move to Manchester City collapsed over the weekend.

The Blues are trying to sign the left-sided defender as part of a mission to strengthen their wing-back position.

Brighton have asked for at least £50million to sell their Player of the Season, who is tied down to a long-term contract.

Meanwhile, the Blues have long been in negotiations with the south coast club to sell their talented young centre-back Levi Colwill. The 19-year-old is valued at around £20m and has now been discussed as part of negotiations over a potential swap deal.

It is hoped that the Cobham academy graduate can allow Chelsea to succeed where Manchester City failed.

Spain international Cucurella has been tracked by the west Londoners since his loan spell at Getafe from Barcelona.

Thomas Tuchel is known to be an admirer of the defender and is now tasking the club’s new Boehly-Clearlake owners with negotiations.

The Blues had been interested in Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries at wing-back but have struggled to make a breakthrough in talks over the past week.

They remain keen on signing two more central defenders and could replace the Napoli-bound Kepa Arrizabalaga with a new goalkeeper.
