Chelsea news: Todd Boehly drops major Mason Mount hint after Reece James vow

Chelsea splashed more cash than any other Premier League side this summer - and Thomas Tuchel will be hoping his expensively-assembled new side start delivering the goods on the pitch.

The Blues have spent in excess of £270million in the transfer window in order to rebuild a squad that had been plundered by European rivals during the off-season. However, Chelsea's new faces are yet to fully gel, with the Londoners still very much a work in progress.

Tuchel will be hoping that a dramatic late win over West Ham in Saturday's London derby can be the catalyst for his side to kick on as they prepared to start to their Champions League campaign this week. Reports have claimed that Chelsea are trying to tie Mount down to fresh terms now that the club are able to negotiate deals again following Boehly's takeover. And the American's social media activity could be the clearest indication yet that the Chelsea hierarchy are confident of striking a deal.

And the 22-year-old has immediately set his sights on bringing more trophies to Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

Chelsea's new owner Boehly reportedly believes that the previous Stamford Bridge regime, led by Roman Abramovich, is responsible for the club having to embark on such a big summer spending spree.

Boehly and Tuchel have splashed the cash on a number of high-profile players this summer including Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesley Fofana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Unsurprisingly, that large outlay has made the Blues the Premier League's biggest spenders by far. But Boehly believes that shortcomings in the market by the club's previous regime has cost the club dearly this summer.
